About Me - BlackbeardBen

I'm Ben Lindstrom: Mechanical engineer, photojournalist, and traveler.

My experience in professional photojournalism began as a staff photographer for the Red Cedar Log, Michigan State University's yearbook - the award winning, largest circulation yearbook in the nation. Now I do freelance and work-for-hire photography. Beyond my work with digital photojournalism, I have done extensive work in 35mm and medium format film - including developing my own black and white film.

I have covered nearly every imaginable type of event - from NCAA Division I sports to student events, outdoor weddings and portraits, a speech by President Obama during his 2008 campaign, and even civil disturbances.

I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University, and during 2010-2011 I studied at the University of Skövde in Sweden. Currently I am a design engineer at Global Pump Company in Davison, Michigan.

In my free time - when I'm not taking, sorting, or editing photos - I enjoy mountain biking, bicycle touring, backpacking, astronomy, and listening to music on my vintage stereo equipment.

To contact me about photographing an event in Michigan or concerning reprints of my photos, please e-mail me at blackbeardben@gmail.com.

I hope you enjoy my work, and thanks for browsing around my site!

- Ben (aka "Blackbeard Ben")
